Leave The Pack Behind in Action
Social Marketing Campaigns
All participating campuses implement non-stop, multi-media social marketing campaigns that combine mass media, interpersonal outreach, and this website. Mass media print and electronic materials are refreshed each month. Interpersonal outreach is updated each week.
| Mass Media Channels | Interpersonal |
| Campus newspaper & radio Java jackets Bookmarks Announcement Boards Brochures Internet / website Table tents Stickers Tattoos Banners & posters |
Twice-per-week, interactive displays Announcements to classes Presentations to residence groups Appearances at campus events Drop-in office hours Information 'walk-abouts' in smoking areas Referrals from campus health clinics Carbon monoxide testing Support for administrative / Policy issues Telephone support Assistance through 'buddies' |
A wide variety of communication channels and diverse locations for interpersonal outreach are used. Given the size of most campuses, patterns of student attendance and traffic flow, and habitual gathering spots of different groups of students, the use of diverse channels and outreach locations helps ensure all students on a campus are reached and program impact is maximized.

The social marketing campaign is ongoing, all the way through the school year. Continuous messaging is essential for reaching students at times when they are most prepared to listen (e.g., when they are ready to quit, having smoking-related issues with friends or roommates, etc.). Continuous messaging helps ensure LTPB programs & services are known and easily-accessible.
*Of note, all educational print materials are available in French.
