Quit For Good

Before

    Contestants must:

  • Meet eligibility criteria for the Quit For Good category
  • Perform a CO test with a member of the LTPB student team
  • Submit a fully complete registration form to the LTPB student team

During

    Contestants must:

  • Quit smoking, and remain smoke-free during the entire 6 weeks of the contest. This means they can’t use any kind of tobacco product from January 20, 2010 to March 3, 2010 (inclusive).
    Quitting aids such as nicotine replacement therapy (patch, gum) or medications are allowed.
  • Keep in contact with their buddy so their buddy can support them and know how they are doing.
  • Respond within 48 hours if they are contacted by Leave The Pack Behind.

Near the end

    LTPB contacts contestants as potential winners of the Quit For Good prize(s). Contestants who are selected as potential winners must:

  • Reply to Leave The Pack Behind within 24 hours of being contacted
  • Go to their campus clinic within 48 hours of being contacted to:
  • - show their student identification card
    - provide a urine sample for a cotinine test to see if they are smoke-free
    - sign a declaration form to say they followed the rules and are smoke free
  • Make sure their buddy submits their declaration form within 48 hours of being contacted.
    The buddy declaration form will be emailed to buddies of potential winners.

Prize Draws for Quit For Good Contestants

Potential winners are contacted by email at the address provided at registration. Possible winners forfeit their eligibility for the final prize draw if they:

  • Do not meet timelines for replying to LTPB, visiting the campus clinic, completing the cotinine test, and submitting all required forms
  • Have not followed the contest rules before, during and/or near the end of the contest period
  • Decline or fail the cotinine test

Potential winners who complete the requirements of the preliminary prize draw and are found to be smoke-free are entered into the final draw. Final winners are selected at random.

Keep The Count

Before

    Contestants must:

  • Meet eligibility criteria for the Keep the Count category
  • Perform a CO test with a member of the LTPB student team
  • Submit a fully complete registration form to the LTPB student team

During

    Contestants must:

  • Reduce the number of daily cigarettes smoked by 50%.
    This means that if a contestant regularly smokes 20 cigarettes a day, they may not smoke above 10 cigarettes a day from January 20, 2010 to March 3, 2010 (inclusive). Quitting aids such as nicotine replacement therapy (patch, gum etc.) or medications are allowed.
  • Keep in contact with their buddy so their buddy can support them and know how they are doing.
  • Respond within 48 hours if they are contacted by Leave The Pack Behind.

Near the end

    LTPB contacts contestants as potential winners of the Keep The Count prize(s). Contestants who are selected as potential winners must:

  • Reply to Leave The Pack Behind within 24 hours of being contacted
  • Sign a declaration form to say they followed the rules for Keep the Count
  • make sure their buddy submits their declaration form within 48 hours of being contacted. The buddy declaration form will be emailed to buddies of potential winners.

Party Without the Smoke

Before

    Contestants must:

  • Meet eligibility criteria for the Party Without the Smoke category
  • Perform a CO test with a member of the LTPB student team
  • Submit a fully complete registration form to the LTPB student team

During

    Contestants must:

  • Not smoke while drinking alcohol.
    In this category, smoke may refer to cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, marijuana or shisha. This means contestants may still smoke and drink alcohol, but will not do the two behaviours together from January 20, 2010 to March 3, 2010 (inclusive).
    Quitting aids such as nicotine replacement therapy (patch, gum etc.) or medications are allowed.
  • Keep in contact with their buddy so their buddy can support them and know how they are doing
  • Respond within 48 hours if they are contacted by Leave The Pack Behind.

Near the end

    LTPB contacts contestants as potential winners of the Party Without the Smoke prize(s). Contestants who are selected as potential winners must:

  • Reply to Leave The Pack Behind within 24 hours of being contacted
  • Sign a declaration form to say they followed the rules for Keep the Count
  • make sure their buddy submits their declaration form within 48 hours of being contacted. The buddy declaration form will be emailed to buddies of potential winners.

Prize Draws for Party Without the Smoke Contestants

Potential winners are contacted by email at the address provided at registration. Possible winners forfeit their eligibility for the final prize draw if they:

  • Do not meet timelines for replying to LTPB and submitting all required forms
  • Have not followed the contest rules before, during and/or near the end of the contest period

Potential winners who complete the requirements of the preliminary prize draw and submit the appropriate forms are entered into the final draw. Final winners are selected at random.

  • Continue to be smoke-free from January 20, 2010 to March 3, 2010 (inclusive)
  • Keep in contact with their buddy so their buddy can support them and know how they are doing
  • Respond within 48 hours if they are contacted by Leave The Pack Behind.

Near the end

    LTPB contacts contestants as potential winners of theDon’t Start and Win prize(s). Contestants who are selected as potential winners must:

  • Reply to Leave The Pack Behind within 24 hours of being contacted
  • Sign a declaration form to say they followed the rules for Keep the Count
  • make sure their buddy submits their declaration form within 48 hours of being contacted. The buddy declaration form will be emailed to buddies of potential winners.

Buddies

During

    Contestants must:

  • Keep in contact with the contestants to support them and monitor how they are doing
  • Respond within 48 hours if they are contacted by Leave The Pack Behind

Near the end

    LTPB contacts buddies of contestants who are drawn as potential winners of the prize(s). Buddies must:

  • Submit a declaration form stating that the contestant has followed contest rules. The declaration form will be emailed by the LTPB student team to buddies at the email address provided by the contestant during registration
  • Buddies must email the declaration form to the LTPB team within 48 hours of being contacted

Prize Draws for Don’t Start and Win Contestants

Potential winners are contacted by email at the address provided at registration. Possible winners forfeit their eligibility for the final prize draw if they:

  • Do not meet timelines for replying to LTPB and submitting all required forms

Potential winners who complete the requirements of the preliminary prize draw and submit the appropriate forms are entered into the final draw. Final winners are selected at random.
