may, of course, also smoke outside as long as they are nine metres
from the building. There are smoking shelters outside most of
the residence buildings.

City
of Hamilton Smoking Policy

Effective
June 1, 2002 most public places in Hamilton are required to be
100% smoke-free. Smoking in workplaces, restaurants and bowling
centres is restricted to fully enclosed and separately ventilated
designated smoking rooms (DSRs). Bars, billiard halls, bingo
halls, gaming centres and nightclubs may allow smoking in an
unenclosed designated smoking area until May 31, 2004. After
that date, they must also restrict smoking to DSRs. On May 31,
2008 the use of DSRs will be discontinued and all public places
and workplaces in Hamilton will be 100% smoke-free.
