“Leave The Pack Behind” is an on campus smoking awareness, cessation support and

research program at 8 Universities and 2 Colleges across Ontario. It is peer

driven working closely with Health Services at Niagara College. Apply today and

be a part of research history while helping your fellow students!

 
Campus Program Co-ordinator

1 position available for 10 hrs/week

The main focus of this person is planning, leading, tracking and reporting on

all aspects of the campus team activities.

Duties:

  • To coordinate the campus team.
  • Plan all major events and delegate activities to other members of the team.
  • Give individual support to each team member.
  • To increase student knowledge of tobacco related issues.
  • To identify and communicate with several members of college community for

    advertising and awareness.

  • To work closely with the college nurses
  • Submitting team reports and time sheets on a weekly basis.
  • To create advertisements for the college newspaper.

Required Skills

  • An interest in tobacco awareness and intervention
  • Able to work independently and interdependently
  • Able to work with little to no supervision
  • Willing to work a few hours after 6 p.m.
  • Good time management skills
  • Personable and friendly
  • Own vehicle an asset
     Communication Staff Members

2 positions available for 4 hrs/week

The main role of these team members is recruitment into LTPB services using

effective communication channels

Duties:

  • Support students to manage their smoking and enable positive change.
  • To increase student knowledge of tobacco related issues.
  • Offer support and introduce other services, which may be beneficial in their

    smoking challenges.

  • Setting up table displays.
  • Collecting data for research through surveys and interviews.

Required Skills:

  • An interest in tobacco awareness and intervention
  • Willing to work a few hours after 6 p.m.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Good time management skills
  • Able to work independently and interdependently
  • Friendly and personable
